The Salvation Army Community & Family Services department provides individualized support services to adults who are the working poor or experience enduring poverty. The Community & Family Services department provides services in the following areas:
- Emergency food hampers
- Obtaining a clothing voucher from the thrift store
- Obtaining housing or needing assistance with homelessness funding
- Obtaining income support
- Obtaining employment
- Obtaining identification
- New to Yellowknife and need assistance navigating services
- Looking for help regarding addictions
- Shower facilities with toiletries, open to all
- Laundry facilities, open to all
Case Management:
- Assistance with filling out forms (income support, birth certificate, housing, healthcare)
- Referrals to Withdrawal Management Services (WMS) program
- Referrals to Internal and External services as needed
Food Hampers:
- Given out once a month to community members on Mondays and Thursdays
Clothing Vouchers:
- Given out to community members every 3 months
Foot Care & Foot Wash:
- Community members/ Shelter Clients can access - This service is currently suspended until further notice
Laundry Facilities:
- Can be accessed by all community members throughout business hours (Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm)
- Shelter clients are able to access facilities during business hours and shelter hours (7pm - 10pm)
Shower Facilities:
- Can be accessed by all community members throughout business hours (Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm)
